The registration fee for the 2008-09 season is $540 per player, however, a $100 early registration discount will be automatically applied for returning players* registered by August 1st, 2008. The $100 discount will also apply for all new families. Families registering 3 or more players will received a $50 discount for the family.
All new registrants must register in person and provide a copy of the player’s birth certificate and proof of Whitby residency.
Registration fees for returning players may be paid online by Visa or MasterCard. In-person registrations may pay for their registrations by Visa, MasterCard, debit, cash or non-posted cheque.
Open registration for Initiation (2003) through Minor Midget (1993) aged players will close on August 15th, 2008. Players who register prior to this date will have a guaranteed spot. Players who attempt to register after this date will be placed on a waiting list in sequence and assigned to a team on a first-come, first-served basis based on availaiblity.
As a pilot project during the 2007-08 season, Whitby Minor Hockey expanded the age eligibility of players by 6 months, to include 30 players whose birth date was on or before July 1, 2003 (4-year olds). The continuation of that program is currently being evaluated.
* Registration for Midget (1989-1992) aged players will remain open until September 15th, 2008 at the discounted rate, thereafter the wait list porcedure will also apply.
Returning players are encouraged to register online (link on left side of this page).

Registration and Tax Receipt Support
It has come to our attention that some of our email replies are not getting back to their senders. MSi Support has received emails indicating that we have not responded, when we have. We are looking into this.
MSi Support should get back to you with in 24 hours. We should also address your issues in that time. Typically, we will get back you in less time; however the support for the implementation of the online Fitness Tax Receipts has slowed the response time down. Compounding the amount of support is that registration data imported for both Whitby Hockey and Whitby Baseball has created situations where some players from a family are missing once you login. What has most often happened in these cases is that there is a family for each player. We need to consolidate these into one family.
We’re happy to work through these issues and we ask for your patience as we do. If haven’t received a reply from MSi within 24 hours, please send another email letting us know. We will work through the associations to get in touch with you in these cases. There is a possibility that our replies are getting file in your bulk mail folders by spam filters. Thanks

REP
ROO - Summary of Changes to Rep Program
Progressive changes have been made to the WMHA Rep Program. These changes have been approved by the WMHA Board of Directors and are in effect as of December 20, 2007.
A summary of the new additions and updates to the WMHA Rep Program is available in the Rep Program Changes document found in the Downloads section of the web site.
These changes will be reflected in the Representative Teams section of the official WMHA Rules of Operation document, which will eventually be re-issued with updates.
FEDERAL FITNESS CREDIT
In the last federal budget the Government of Canada proposed to allow, starting in 2007, a non-refundable tax credit on eligible amounts of up to $500 paid by parents to register a child in an eligible program of physical activity. The children's fitness tax credit will allow parents to claim a maximum of $500 per year for eligible fees paid for each child who is under 16 at any time during the year.
The year in which the tax credit can be claimed is determined by the date when the fees are paid, not when the activity takes place. Therefore, registration fees paid in 2006 relating to the portion of the activity pertaining to 2007 does not qualify for this credit.
Whitby Minor Hockey will provide appropriate receipts relating to 2007 based on registrations for the 2007-2008 hockey season.
For further information, or an example, see www.cra-arc.gc.ca/fitness/.
