Organized hockey began in Whitby in the early 1900s, and has been a proud member of the OMHA for over 75 years. Brooklin and Whitby hockey associations amalgamated in 1971. Whitby Minor Hockey Association’s unsurpassed reputation has grown extensively. The Association currently boasts a membership of approximately 3,100+ players that encompass approximately 158 house League teams (2550 players) and 35 representative teams (600 players).

The Association has a solid record of accomplishment in annually hosting major tournament events, including the Holiday Classic House League Tournament at Christmas, the OMHA’s Maple Lodge House League Festival in April and a variety of representative tournaments during both the Canadian and American Thanksgiving.

WMHA is proud to co-host the Whitby Silver Stick Tournament.  The Whitby Wildcats have also hosted OMHA championships.  For the past 12 years, WMHA’s Bantam AAA team has co-hosted an annual Bantam AAA tour from Finland.

Whitby Minor Hockey is a leader in development programs, continuing to move forward with formal developmental programs for its players and coaches.

The Whitby Wildcats are proud of their illustrious alumnae who went on to excel in the NHL – Wayne Primeau, Keith Primeau, Joe Nieuwendyk, Paul Ranger, Jay Harrison, Jamie Allison, Adam Foote and Gary Roberts – some of whom will play a role during this event.  Former NHL players also include Ross Lowe, Dunc Wilson, Peter Vipond, Mike Keenan and Brad Dalgamo.
