Organized hockey began in Whitby in the early 1900s, and has been a proud member of the OMHA for over 75 years. Brooklin and Whitby hockey associations amalgamated in 1971. Whitby Minor Hockey Association’s unsurpassed reputation has grown extensively. The Association currently boasts a membership of approximately 3,100+ players that encompass approximately 158 house League teams (2550 players) and 35 representative teams (600 players). The Association has a solid record of accomplishment in annually hosting major tournament events, including the Holiday Classic House League Tournament at Christmas, the OMHA’s Maple Lodge House League Festival in April and a variety of representative tournaments during both the Canadian and American Thanksgiving. WMHA is proud to co-host the Whitby Silver Stick Tournament. The Whitby Wildcats have also hosted OMHA championships. For the past 12 years, WMHA’s Bantam AAA team has co-hosted an annual Bantam AAA tour from Finland. |
