The Whitby Minor Hockey Association is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Iron Mountain Canada, to provide best in class management of our Criminal Information Request (CIR) Process.  All volunteers, board members, bench staff and service providers across House League and Rep will adhere to this new process.

Effective immediately, please forward a current copy of your CIR (obtained after April 2010) to the address below:

Whitby Minor Hockey is receiving bi-weekly reporting of which members have up to date CIR's and when they expire.  Those members that do not have an up to date CIR delivered to Iron Mountain/Whitby address above prior to October 31st, 2012) will not be permitted to participate in WMHA on ice or off ice activities (including Board Members and Service Providers).  Copy of CIR's obtained after April 2010 are acceptable.  A fresh copy/record must be sent by members.  Do not approach a Board Member or association volunteer for us to resend anything on file.  Further, CIR's will no longer be accepted by any member of the board or the association; you must send a valid CIR copy to the address and Attn: above.

As a reminder, CIR's are valid for a period of 3 years, and are only valid for ages 18 and up.  As an added benefit of this automated and secure process, the WMHA will be able to notify members when their CIR certification is up for expiry, up to 6 months before it expires.

In the event a charge/conviction exists on the CIR, WMHA will be securely notified and provide an appeal avenue for the member to continue to participate in sports programming for children.

Lastly, any mailing or delivery delay will not be an acceptable exception to the timing described above.  The process is black and white; a CIR will either be on file as of Oct. 31st, 2012, or a member will not be permitted to participate until such time that it is.  Members are encouraged to obtain CIR's immediately (early July request); for those with a CIR dated April 2010 or later, they can be forwarded/mailed immediately.

There is no fax process, no email process, nowhere to phone.  It's a straightforward 3 step process:

1. get CIR (existing 2010 April or get new),
2. mail CIR, and
3. WMHA confirmes valid CIR.

The WMHA will NOT be notifying those members whose CIR's are received w/out issue.  The WMHA WILL notify those members where we have not received a CIR leading up to October 31st, 2012 (beginning in Sept-2012).

NOTE: Only original yellow embossed CIR will be accepted (multiple official embossed copies can be obtained).  Photocopies will not be accepted.  Vulnerable sector must be checked off for each.
