The Midget AAAs came into the OMHA Championship in Welland with a season record of 53-10-8, 271 goals for and 111 goals against. This Team had already been successful in winning three tournaments: Kitchener Blueline, Oshawa Kinsmen Cup and the Peterborough Midget Tournament of Champions.
At the OMHA Championship, the team won their first three games, 5-0 over Southern Tier, 4-3 over Markham and 5-2 over Oakville. They fell short in a 5-2 loss to Halton in a meaningless fourth game. In the final game, the Team rallied back to beat Markham once again in a score of 3-2. This final game took two overtimes to decide the Champions. The Team has qualified for the OHF Central Region Midget AAA Championship in Sault Ste. Marie from April 2nd to 8th.
The team roster includes goalies Mitchell Ewing and Mathieu Ouellet, and players Jesse Benedetto, Craig Crowther, Taylor Gauld, Brent Hambly, Connor Laird, Derek Mackie, Patrick McAuliffe, Liam McDonnell, Rylee McKinnon, Brodie Myers, Anders Nielsen, Riley O’Connell, James Sanker, Matt Simsons, Ryan Smith, Scott Terry and Chris Turner. Team Staff include Tom Boyle, Thom Rennie, Derek Dixon, Steve Rodger and Kevin Lamplugh. GO WILDCATS! |
