|Minor Atom AE Wildcats Take Silver in Bradford|

The Minor Atom AE team had a great weekend of hockey and team building Oct 21st-23rd in the Bradford tournament.
After a bit of a slow start early in the tournament, the team faced a Saturday afternoon "must win to advance" game. The boys managed to fight hard and take a well deserved win of 4-1 over Brampton to secure a position in the semi finals.
Sunday morning brought them a rematch game against the London Bandits who were undefeated in the tournament. Whitby came out hard and took control of the game right from the drop of the puck. Clearly, the boys knew what had to be done and they were there to prove themselves - and they did - as Whitby revenged their loss to London with a 4-3 win to secure a position in the tournament finals.
The finals brought back another rematch from a tournament earlier this year as the boys went face to face with Newmarket. The result was an exciting game of hockey as the two teams went hard at each other for the entire game.
Whitby went down early in the game but keeping with their positive, never give up, attitude they brought to earlier games, they fought back to a one goal difference by the thrid period. The final minutes of the game was some of the most exciting hockey you could ask for with incredible saves, hard rushes to the net, strong defence, back and forth passing and multiple close call goal scoring opportunities for Whitby.
If they had only had a few more seconds on the clock they may have pulled it off as the pressure on the London end and goalie was fierce… but in the end, Newmarket held on and took the final win 3-2.
The boys represented Whitby hockey well and should be proud of their Silver Medal. A great weekend in all, well done boys !!
