The following is a brief guide to the minimum requirements for certification based on level and division. For more information on the requirements of certification, as well as options for re-certifying including the Continuing Education Program, visit www.omha.net under Development Programs.

All Team Officials

Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Trainers, Managers in the OMHA must have a minimum of Speak Out! [PRS] certification in addition to all other certification appropriate to their position.

All participants must be a minimum of 16 years of age to attend a Speak Out! clinic. Speak Out! "Its More Than Just a Game" is a 3.5 hour interactive workshop focused on the prevention of bullying, harassment and abuse in the game of hockey. Speak Out! is no longer integrated into the Coach Stream & Development 1 clinics and therefore MUST be taken separately from these certifications. The Speak Out! [PRS] certification never expires.

Effective the 2009-2010 season Intermediate Certification will expire and coaches holding this certification will be required to renew their certifications.

Houseleague Coaches

Novice and Below - CHIP only - CHIP certification never expires.
Minor Atom/Atom - CHIP or Coach Stream
Minor Peewee and Above - Coach Stream
Houseleague Assistant Coaches
Speak Out! only - However CHIP or Coach Stream are highly recommended.
Houseleague Trainers
HTCP Trainer Level 1 - expires every three years.


Rep Coaches

Minor Atom/Atom and below - Coach Stream
Minor Peewee and Above - NCCP Development 1
Rep Level Trainers
HTCP Trainer Level 1 - expires every three years.
